Summer Clerk 2018
Summer clerking at Mackenzie Elvin was a deeply enriching and fulfilling experience. It gave me the necessary foundation to transition into the legal profession with confidence. The firm does not shy away from letting you do real hands on legal work in a variety of sectors.  There are not many clerkships where you can get such diverse exposure.  What makes Mackenzie Elvin truly so unique is the people. The firm has a strong collegiality and a great workplace culture. I cannot imagine a more supportive and rewarding place from which to enter the legal world.

Summer Clerk 2018
My summerclerkship at Mackenzie Elvin was everything I could have hoped for from a clerkship and more. It presented me with diverse and challenging experiences, which were made significantly easier due to the guidance and wisdom of everyone in the office.  What really struck me about the firm, and what I strongly identified with, was the desire to get efficient and pragmatic solutions for the clients. My summer at the firm gave me far greater confidence in my legal ability, while also instilling a thorough understanding of how a law firm operates on a day-to-day basis.

Summer Clerk 2016
My summer clerkship at Mackenzie Elvin gave me a practical, diverse and challenging introduction to legal practice. I was immediately integrated into the Mackenzie Elvin team and was handed client files to draft documents from day one. Rather than being limited to one or two areas of law, I was able to move between commercial, family, property, governance and trust matters throughout my clerkship. The staff at Mackenzie Elvin were friendly, helpful and welcoming and were always willing to give constructive feedback and answer my (many) questions!

Summer Clerk 2015
In 2015 I was lucky enough to spend a couple of months working at Mackenzie Elvin alongside some exceptional legal staff. Right from the outset I was given the opportunity to get stuck into a variety of work across the family, property and commercial teams. Within my first month I presented an appeal to immigration NZ, attended the family court and learnt about the process behind the commercial leases.  Whenever I needed guidance or supervision there was always someone in the office willing to help. You join the ‘team’ at Mackenzie Elvin, and you’ll be treated as a unique individual.

Summer Clerk 2014
I was fortunate to spend the summer interning at Mackenzie Elvin. My experience there was highly rewarding, due mainly to two reasons. Firstly, the work I was able to spend time on was both highly varied and meaningful. I especially valued the times spent at court. Secondly, the work culture at the firm was great. All the staff were very friendly and this made it easy to ask questions – which I had to do often! This resulted in a truly enjoyable internship which taught me a huge amount about how the law works in a practical sense. In short, I would positively recommend an internship at Mackenzie Elvin.

Summer Clerk 2014
Mackenzie Elvin is a fantastic law firm with friendly staff that helped to make my transition from the lecture theatre to the real world as smooth as possible. I completed a variety of tasks requiring a good mix of individual effort and teamwork. In doing so I received invaluable guidance from an expert team of lawyers. Moreover, because of the smaller size of the firm, I was able to gain a useful insight into how it operates. The clerkship also included several outings, including attending court hearings and a golf competition, which helped to make my time at Mackenzie Elvin a truly outstanding experience!
